Trevor Day School, located in Manhattan, New York, is an independent, coeducational institution serving students from preschool through grade 12. Established in 1930 as The Day School of the Church of the Heavenly Rest, it became independent in 1969 and was renamed in 1997 to honor Paul Trevor, an early board president.
Trevor Day School emphasizes an inquiry-driven, idea-rich community, encouraging students to achieve academic and personal excellence. The school celebrates diversity of thought, experiences, and culture, promoting compassion, collaboration, courage, and creativity. Its mission is to develop students’ unique potential as lifelong learners and leaders who act as responsible global citizens.
The academic program is designed to foster critical thinking and intellectual curiosity. In the Lower School, students build strong academic foundations while discovering their interests and identities as lifelong learners. The Middle and Upper Schools offer a dynamic and engaging learning community centered on inquiry-based teaching and learning, with small class sizes and a commitment to collaboration and inclusivity.
Beyond academics, Trevor offers a robust co-curricular program, including athletics, performing arts, clubs, service initiatives, and global travel opportunities. The school encourages students to embrace both academics and extracurriculars, emerging as fuller and richer citizens for participating in an array of experiences.
Trevor’s facilities include a state-of-the-art, LEED Gold-certified building on East 95th Street for the Middle and Upper Schools, featuring collaborative spaces, technological resources, and ample square footage. The Lower School is housed in the renovated Goodman Building on 88th Street, offering bright and modern classrooms, dedicated music and art rooms, an expansive dining room, and a full-sized gymnasium.
